Jared Leto just picked up a very inspiring viral challenge and ran with it.
To recap: Back on October 15, Zedd shared posts on social media announcing he was launching the #GoodThingChallenge — and nominated his friend Leto to join him in participating. “The #goodthingchallenge is all about doing something good for somebody else. Whether it’s donating to a charity, buying a coffee for the person in line behind you, or just doing something kind to brighten up somebody’s day, I want to challenge all of you to do a good thing,” he captioned an accompanying video, encouraging others to do acts of kindness and tag him. Zedd kicked off the challenge with a $10,000 donation to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.

Well, Leto has just delivered now, too — big time. He announced in a series of tweets that he would be donating money to help two different families who have suffered tragic accidents.
First, he gave $5,000 to help one family in Utah whose kids were in a car accident. “Griffin (3) and Watson (18 months) were in a stroller when a car hit them. Watson suffered a broken neck, broken pelvis, and lacerated liver. Griffin suffered a full break skull fracture, broken clavicle, and abrasions,” Leto explained in a tweet that also linked to their GoFundMe page.
As well, he gave funds to help out with surgeries for a child named Zaid, who suffered severe burns at the age of two when his bed accidentally caught fire.
“I encourage everyone to do the #goodthingchallenge. Remember the smallest gesture can make a big impact…even if it’s just a hello and a smile,” Leto tweeted.
Among the other celeb supporters of the challenge are Paris Hilton, who commented on Zedd’s Instagram post announcing the challenge, “Love this, @zedd,” she wrote.
