Jason Kelce ‘Confident’ He Can Defeat Odd Fan Challenge

Jason Kelce is “pretty confident” that he will be victorious after accepting a fan challenge during a recent episode of New Heights, the podcast he hosts with his younger brother, Travis Kelce.

The former Philadelphia Eagles center was asked about the challenge in question as he and Travis attended a panel at Sport Beach, a special event held on Thursday, June 20 at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France. As he told the panel moderator, Jason is certain he can defeat a dachshund in a race after one of the podcast’s fans invited him to race her dog.

“I gotta race the dachshund now. Which, I’m pretty confident I’m gonna win,” Jason, 36, told his Sport Beach audience.

Travis, 34, echoed his older brother’s confidence. “This dachshund doesn’t have a chance,” he said, later adding, “Unless this thing’s juicing, there’s no f—-ing way.”

Jason then questioned research suggesting that dachshunds can run up to 15 or 20 miles per hour. “Have you guys ever seen a wiener dog go 20 miles an hour?” he asked the audience, adding that it “sounds fake.”

The challenge came about earlier this month during a special fan shoutout portion of the podcast, which spotlighted one listener in Texas who races her dachshund, Louie. At the time, Jason said there was “no chance” that specific dog breed could hit such fast speeds.

“I’m not buying that,” he said during the episode, a clip of which the podcast later shared on X, formerly Twitter. “There’s no way a dachshund is beating me in a race.”

That comment prompted the fan to later post a special challenge for the former NFL star on X.

“What an honor to be mentioned on the podcast!” her tweet began. "Challenge? How about a race between @jasonkelce and Louie? Let’s see if you can outrun those tiny legs and endless energy.”

The brothers discussed the challenge during the latest episode of their podcast, which was released on Wednesday, June 19. Jason first corrected his pronunciation of the breed name, which he said some X users had corrected him on, before declaring that he was “very confident” he could beat Louie in a race.

“Let’s go. Let’s do it,” Jason said. “Forty yards? How far are we going?”

While Jason suggested it was possible the dog “might be able to keep up” if they only raced 15 yards, he said he could win a race that was a bit longer. Jason and Travis ultimately decided to leave the race distance up to their fans by posting a poll on X.

“I’m gonna put my cleats on, and I’m gonna freaking dust this thing,” Jason declared.
