Jay Chandrasekhar says 'Super Troopers 2' will have a Kickstarter

In a Reddit AMA to promote Really, his new Amazon pilot, Jay Chandrasekhar revealed that a sequel to Super Troopers, his 2001 cult classic with his comedy group Broken Lizard, is in the works and headed to Kickstarter.”Super Troopers 2 is looking very likely,” Chandrasekhar wrote. “We’ll have an update in a couple of months.” The possibility of heading to the crowd-funding site to raise money for the movie has been floated in the past, but now it seems like that’s the plan.

Chandrasekhar told Redditors that the movie will hopefully shoot in the winter. Screenrant had reported that group members revealed on a podcast last year that Fox was willing to distribute the film, but the filmmakers needed to raise money for production and promotion. “We want to make Super Troopers 2 next and Fox want us to raise not only all the money to make it, but also all the money to release it,” Chandrasekhar said in the AMA. Veronica Mars proved that Kickstarter could be a good resource for projects with a fervent fan base in this type of position.

As for the prizes, Chandrasekhar revealed that donors could get a visit from the Broken Lizard guys. “When we get Super Troopers 2 done, we’re going to tour together as a group,” he said. “One of the Kickstarter prizes is going to be us coming to town, doing a show and having a private party screening with the donors.”

So what can fans expect from the follow-up? “Well, bigger, thicker mustaches for one. Uhm, Farva will be more of a dick. I might show my dick. Fun stuff like that,” Chandrasekhar said.
