Jaylen Brown launches new sneaker brand and flagship shoe

Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown is opening the 2024-25 season in style. The reigning NBA Finals MVP is launching a new performance brand. This includes a flagship sneaker, too.

The company is called 741, and seeks to connect consumers with quality and style while empowering athletes. The tagline "future of performance" is a nod to that mission and the brand's forward-facing ethos. The sneaker's design is futuristic in and of itself, and even the name is out of this world. Brown's new sneaker "Rover" will be available for preorder soon in a "Black Moon" colorway.

This is a big step forward for Brown, one of the NBA's premiere sneaker free agents. Let's have a look.

Brown had teased the shoes several times on social media during the offseason, and it's not a secret that he has sought to distance himself from some of the biggest names in the sneaker space. Through his existing apparel brand 7uice, Brown has forged his own path in the broader world of fashion. Here with 741 he appears to be doing something similar.

According to the 741 website, the name itself is a nod to Brown's interest in numbers and frequencies, something he has spoken about before.

"In Numerology," the site reads. "The number 7 represents spiritual awakening, wisdom, and understanding, while 4 symbolizes hard work, stability, and practicality. The number 1 stands for new beginnings, creativity, and independence."

"Together, these numbers tell a story of intuition, resilience, and boldness, embodying the spirit behind Jaylen's decision to forge his own path and create 741—a brand that champions authenticity and empowerment for all."

The sneakers aren't available for pre-sale yet, but this is a big step forward for a project Brown has been tinkering with for some time. That can't distract from his work on the court, of course.

Brown and the Celtics begin training camp this week. From there they travel to Abu Dhabi in the UAE for twin preseason games against the Denver Nuggets.
