Jayson Tatum got tattoo of All-Star game MVP trophy named after Kobe Bryant
The reigning NBA champion Boston Celtics have at least a couple of players who, oddly enough, can easily be liked, at least on an individual level, by Los Angeles Lakers fans.
Starting point guard Jrue Holiday grew up in the Southland and was a big Lakers fan when he was really young. He recently admitted that when he was traded to the Celtics late last summer, putting on their uniform was "weird" for him.
Star forward Jayson Tatum is pretty well-known as a fan of late Lakers great Kobe Bryant. He considers Bryant a mentor, and it was revealed that he got a tattoo of him holding the 2023 All-Star Game MVP trophy, which is named after the five-time NBA champion.
Shortly after Bryant and eight others were killed in a helicopter crash in January 2020, NBA commissioner Adam Silver renamed the All-Star game MVP trophy the NBA All-Star Game Kobe Bryant Most Valuable Player award. The Lakers legend had been named the MVP of the midseason classic four times, which is tied with Hall of Famer Bob Pettit for the most such awards by an individual in league history.
