Jenelle Evans tells producers she chooses David Eason over 'Teen Mom 2'
On Monday night’s Teen Mom 2, producers were forced to communicate with Jenelle Evans via speakerphone because she refused to travel to film without her husband, David Eason.
“When any Teen Mom couple goes and travels, they bring whoever they're married to,” Evans said. “Like, and I don't have that option. And I'm not comfortable doing that.”
In February 2018, MTV severed ties with Eason after he made homophobic comments on Twitter. He also threatened via text message to show up anytime MTV was filming, which is why the producers wanted his wife to travel to film.
“I think that our hands are really tied after that text message, Jenelle,” one of the co-executive producers said. “I think the text message just really put this over the edge. Like, a threat in writing is really difficult to walk back from.”
Eason recently made headlines again after allegedly shooting and killing their family dog, Nugget. Soon after, he reportedly confirmed that he was responsible for the dog’s death on his since-deactivated Instagram account, @HicktownKing.
“I don’t give a d**n what animal bites my baby on the face,” he wrote. “Whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I don’t put up with that s**t at all. I’m all about protecting my family, it is my life’s mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for and my family means that much to me.”
Evans posted a mourning note soon after Nugget’s death.
“I love you so much and I’m so sorry. I’m speechless,” she wrote. “You were my sidekick and knew the moment I felt bad and would cuddle with me. You still had a lot to learn and a lot to grow from your lessons. You’re gone forever and there’s no coming back.”
Angry fans took to Twitter to express their outrage about the couple’s presence on the show.

Jenelle Evans basically said her marriage to David Eason is more 'important' than 'Teen Mom 2', so it looks like producers made the right call by firing her shortly after filming the May 13 episode.https://t.co/sl62AR5TP0

After Nugget’s death, MTV fired Evans from Teen Mom 2, and just recently, Child Protective Services removed her sons from her home. Jace, 9, is living with her mother, Barbara Evans, who already had primary custody. And Kaiser, 4, is now living with his father, Nathan Griffith, and his paternal grandmother. Child Protective Services will not allow Evans to visit her sons until they complete their investigation.
The reality star says she is now focused on getting her children back. Evans released a statement saying, "During this difficult time, I’m focused on getting Kaiser back and cooperating with my legal team on the next steps to getting my children back."
Before being fired, she made it clear to producers that her family is the most important thing to her.
“I mean, like I said, I don't know what to tell you guys,” she stated. “I need to stay home because it's important for my marriage, and that's what's important to me right now: my marriage and my family.”
Teen Mom 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on MTV.
