Jenni Rivera’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Vandalized Just Two Weeks After Unveiling
The Hollywood Walk of Fame star honoring the late Jenni Rivera was vandalized with black paint just two weeks after the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce unveiled its installation.
Rivera, known as “La Diva de La Banda,” was immortalized on the famous starry walkway in front of Capitol Records on June 27. On Monday afternoon, Rivera’s daughter, Jacqie Rivera, who is also CEO of Jenni Rivera Enterprises, informed her Instagram followers that the star had been covered in black paint along with another star honoring the late Selena Quintanilla.

Both women represented their dual Mexican-American culture in their music and had massive impact on the globalization of Latin music. They also died tragically, with Quintanilla being murdered in 1995, and Rivera perishing in a plane crash in 2012.
Jacqie said she learned of the vandalism via fans who came to visit her mother’s star and unexpectedly found it to be completely covered. The fans made the effort to clean the star themselves while the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce was called to clean it professionally and to find the culprits.
The non-profit wrote on Instagram, “This is unacceptable! Thanks to the fans who tried to clean the star up and reported. Note, there are cameras everywhere and a police report has been filed!”
A representative for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.
Rivera’s children, all of whom were present for the star’s unveiling, can also be seen in the comments of the Chamber’s Instagram post.
Chiquis Rivera, a Latin Grammy-winning artist herself, wrote, “I cannot with this. Smh. Thank you for my momma’s fans that took the time to help clean it up. Shame on the person/people who did this.”
