‘Jeopardy’ Fans Joke That Ken Jennings Is ‘Technically Correct’ as He Joins Taylor Swift-Inspired Trend

Jeopardy! fans are enjoying a rare opportunity to correct Ken Jennings after the quiz show host demonstrated his embrace of a new trend inspired by a Taylor Swift lyric.
The lyric in question was included in “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” The song arrived as one of 31 new tracks on Swift’s 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department, which landed as a surprise double album on April 19.
In the song, Swift sings, “You wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me.” The lyrics have inspired a wave of memes that people online are referring to as the “asylum” trend, where social media users comment—sometimes in jest—on the difficulties of their own life experiences while playing the clip from Swift’s song over their own photos or videos.

Jennings, 49, jumped on board with a Thursday, April 25 tweet. He quoted the lyrics and shared a photo of the Jeopardy! studio, a reference to the years he spent competing on the show. Jennings, who once had a 74-game winning streak on Jeopardy! in 2004, was named the show’s new permanent host last year, replacing the late Alex Trebek.

Many of Jennings’ followers on X were quick to point out that it was possible to last “an hour” on Jeopardy!, given that the show airs in 30-minute segments.
“It’s a half hour show, Ken,” one X user pointed out.
“Good thing the show’s only 30 minutes,” another said.
“The show is only 30 minutes so you are technically correct,” one fan tweeted.
Another X user said they would “Only need 22 minutes,” referencing the lower range of the show’s running time before commercials are added.
One person offered a different humorous correction for Jennings’ tweet that referenced Jeopardy’s format. When contestants venture a guess, they are instructed to phrase their response in the form of a question, starting with, “What is.”
“I'm sorry,” the X user joked, “the correct response is 'What is you wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me.’”
