Jessica Chastain Describes Her Character as ‘Dick Cheney in a Push-Up Bra’
Jessica Chastain was interviewed on Inside the Actor’s Studio and described some pivotal moments in her career, including working with Al Pacino on the 2013 film Salomé. Pacino became something of a role model for Chastain and he gave her some important advice: “Don’t ignore the camera, because it’s a part of you. It’s an extension of you. More than your scene partner, the camera sees into your eyes. It knows all of your secrets.”
Chastain also had an interesting assessment of her character Anna Morales in A Most Violent Year, describing her as “Dick Cheney in a push-up bra.” And she shared some acting techniques to the audience of students, including, “All of my characters have a secret that I don’t tell the director. I don’t tell the other actors. I never talk about it.”
Chastain is currently starring in Miss Sloane, a political thriller directed by John Madden.
Inside the Actors Studio airs next on Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. with Viola Davis on Bravo.
