Jessica Chastain Glitters in Crystal Embroidered Oscar de la Renta Dress for ‘Sunset Blvd.’ Broadway Opening in New York City
Jessica Chastain made a glittering arrival at the Broadway opening of “Sunset Blvd.” in New York City on Sunday. The musical, based on the 1950 film, features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Don Black.
For the occasion, Chastain opted for a look from Oscar de la Renta’s spring 2025 collection. The sleeveless dress featured a square neckline with crystal embroidery cascading down the bodice and skirt of the tulle dress.

The ornately designed crystal ornaments, shaped into small triangles, gathered around the waist of the dress, with a few scattered beneath the high neckline and at the top of the skirt. Chastain’s dress flared at the skirt for a fuller appearance.
With the dress as a glittering centerpiece, Chastain seemingly chose to forego jewelry. Her chestnut hair, styled in flowing waves by DJ Quintero, complemented makeup featuring rosy blush, bold eyes and a berry lip by Kristofer Buckle. The look was curated by stylist Elizabeth Stewart, known for working with Elizabeth Olsen, Amanda Seyfried and Cate Blanchett, among others.
For their spring 2025 collection, Oscar de la Renta co-creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia took inspiration from the rose. Along with rose motifs throughout the day and eveningwear selections, further botanical inspiration is found in other pieces of the collection.
Stained glass embroideries, rosette-printed denim and intricate floral crochets are also featured with varying degrees of execution throughout the collection. Along with its signature floral motifs, Oscar de la Renta’s designs create tension with added geometric shapes.
Chastain is no stranger to Broadway. The Oscar-winning actress has been nominated for two Tony Awards — Best Actress in a Play and Best Revival of a Play as one of the producers for “A Doll’s House.”
The Broadway revival of “Sunset Blvd.” stars Nicole Scherzinger as Norma Desmond, a fading movie star of the silent film era who lives a secluded life in her Los Angeles home on the titular street.
