Jessica Walter: Return Of ‘Arrested Development’ “Looking Real Good”
Backstage tonight at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards after the first Emmy win for FX’s Archer, co-star Jessica Walter revealed that things are beginning to move forward on another season of Arrested Development. “It’s looking real good,” said Walters, who plays Lucille Bluth on the series cancelled by Fox in 2007 but resurrected by Netflix six years later. “I don’t have dates, but everybody is on board.”
Talk of an Arrested Development season five has been brewing since the 15-episode fourth season on Netflix landed in 2013, but went into overdrive in April of last year when series co-creator Brian Grazer claimed that 17 more episodes were planned. He followed that up two months later saying that production on the new series would begin at the start of 2016, with Netflix to air the new episodes before year’s end.
That obviously hasn’t happened, likely because the show’s ensemble cast have all been busy in their individual careers, making myriad scheduling conflicts inevitable. Walter’s comments tonight make it clear however that questions about the ignoble Bluth family left hanging at the end of the fourth season may soon be answered.
