Jewel is totally unrecognizable in disguise for 'Undercover Boss' (exclusive)
CBS’s hit reality show Undercover Boss underwent a makeover in May and emerged as Undercover Boss: Celebrity Edition, with superstars, rather than executives, going incognito in the trenches to dig up valuable information in their respective fields.
In this exclusive peek at the latest episode, which airs tonight, four-time Grammy-winning singer Jewel utilizes the show’s concept to help discover gifted musicians and artisans to recruit for her upcoming Handmade Holiday Tour.
Jewel transforms into the character “Andrea” — and becomes unrecognizable with the help of facial prosthetics, makeup, a new brunette hairstyle, and a carefully honed Jersey accent. Thus disguised, she helps an aspiring singer named Amanda navigate an open-mic night in Nashville.
Amanda starts out with a well-known cover (Sixpence None the Richer’s hit “Kiss Me”), which goes over lukewarmly with the crowd. However, at the insistence of “Andrea,” she then sings an original song and has the audience raptly hanging on each note.
The episode of Undercover Boss: Celebrity Edition with Jewel airs on Friday, June 8, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
