Captivating the King is another brand-new K-drama set to premiere on Netflix. Starring Jo Jung-Suk and Shin Sae-Kyung, the historical romance series will revolve around a King and a spy’s love story.
The new K-drama tells the story of Prince Lee In who suddenly becomes the King one day. When he was a prince, he admired an unknown baduk (GO game) player. Things change once he takes over the throne. Spy Kang Hee-Soo, disguised as a man, gets closer to Lee In to seek revenge.
Captivating the King is set to have one of the storylines where hatred turns into love. Hee-Soo will notice Lee In’s empty and sad life, and will likely fall in love with him.

Netflix’s Captivating the King consists of three main cast members — Jo Jung-Suk, Shin Sae-Kyeong, and Lee Shin-Young.
Jo Jung-Suk essays the role of Lee In. He is the prince who is taken as a hostage. However, his brother, the King, misunderstands his loyalty and starts hating him. Due to some circumstances, Lee In becomes the King. The actor is best known for his roles in Hospital Playlist, Oh My Ghost, The Nokdu Flower, and King2Hearts.
Shin Sae-Kyung is the female lead playing Kang Hee Soo/Kangh Mong Woo. She is the unknown baduk player who turns a spy and seeks revenge on King Lee In. The actress has appeared in many popular K-dramas, such as The Sword of Aramun, Run On, and Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung.
Lee Shin-Young plays the role of Kim Myung-Ha in the upcoming series. He has previously starred in Crash Landing On You and Rookie Cops.

The Good Detective and Untouchable director Jo Nam Gook has directed the new K-drama. Kim Sung-Deok is the screenwriter.
Captivating the King release date and time
Captivating the King will premiere on Netflix on Sunday, January 21, 2024. The South Korean drama will also air on tvN at 9.20 p.m. KST.
The Jo Jung-Suk starrer will be released twice a week on Saturdays and Sundays. It takes over the slot of Lee Young-Ae’s Maestra: Strings of Truth which ended last Sunday.
