Joey King, star of 'The Kissing Booth,' reveals she's engaged: 'Luckiest lady alive'
Joey King is engaged!
The "Kissing Booth" star, 22, took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal that her boyfriend Steven Piet is officially her fiancé.
"I never knew happiness could be so powerful that it can take the air from your lungs, overwhelming every part of you that you can’t help but feel your eyes well from the undeniable joy," King wrote, along with romantic photos of her and Piet.
In one of the pictures, Piet plants a big smooch on King, and in another the couple sit side-by-side gazing into each other's eyes.
King flashes her sparkly engagement ring in another photo, revealing in the caption that Piet proposed on Feb. 2, making her "the luckiest lady alive."
"I never knew love could be so unquestionably beautiful. I never knew until you," she continued. "I love you more than an Instagram caption could ever do justice. Hanging out with you forever sounds like a real dream, so let’s do it."
Piet shared his own tribute to King on his Instagram, writing that the actress "unlocked a dimension of love in me that I never knew existed."
"The weather was less than perfect. Cold. Windy. Perfectly imperfect to ask my best friend to spend a lifetime together," he wrote of their engagement day. "A lifetime of incredibly safe and vulnerable conversations. Holding hands on silent cab rides home, exhausted from great food and red wine. And oh, the laughter. The uncontrollable laughter."
Joey King admits it wasn't easy filming 'The Kissing Booth 2' with her ex
King previously dated her "Kissing Booth" co-star Jacob Elordi, but the pair broke up in the midst of shooting the three-film franchise. In a 2020 interview with Cosmopolitan, King conceded that acting opposite her ex in a romantic movie wasn't ideal. According to Glamour, King and Elordi, who now stars on "Euphoria," began dating in 2017, but split the following year.
"No one’s thinking to themselves, 'that was easy,' because it wasn’t. I’m sure people will analyze every movement and every detail. And you know what? Let them. But at the end of the day, I was just thrilled to be (my 'Kissing Booth' character) Elle Evans again," she told the magazine.
She added: "I’ll do anything to make sure the story of my character who I care about so much is complete."
