John Mulaney and Pete Davidson stink at Jimmy Fallon's game, but are fun to watch
John Mulaney, Pete Davidson, and Jimmy Fallon are pretty terrible at seeing through each other’s lies in the game of True Confessions, but it made for great TV.
In the return of this Tonight Show segment, the trio sat around a table, each taking turns reading a statement aloud. It could be true, it could be false, but it’s up to them to sell it as the truth.
With Davidson, nobody wanted to believe he spent New Year’s Eve in Jamaica with his Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels at the age of 20, eight episodes into his first season on the show. But that, too, was true. “He offered me to stay where he was, but I didn’t want to be me around him. So I stayed at the hotel 10 minutes away ’cause I would’ve been fired if I stayed there,” Davidson said.
And Fallon, well, Davidson knows enough about Fallon to know he’s the kind of person who would start in New York City with a musician and inadvertently wake up in Nashville.
