John Stamos Fans Beg Him to 'Have Mercy' in New Photos of Him Channeling Elvis Presley
John Stamos channeled his inner Elvis Presley for a special tribute post on Instagram on Friday, Aug. 16.
While many of the Full House alum’s fans recognized that he was honoring the King of Rock ’n’ Roll on the 47th anniversary of his death, others were distracted by how well Stamos, 60, had “nailed the look.”
Stamos’ seven-part Instagram carousel included various angles of him sitting on a stool with an acoustic guitar propped up in his lap. The black background in each photo enabled fans to focus on Stamos as he embodied the “Jailhouse Rock” singer while wearing a black leather jacket in the style of 1960s-era Presley. Stamos’ black hair was also coiffed in the same way Presley used to wear his, completing the effect.
“Elvis will never truly leave the building,” Stamos wrote of the rock legend, who died at 42 on Aug. 16, 1977.
One fan declared that the photos showed Stamos in his “Elvis era ??????,” while another proclaimed he had entered his “Have Mercy Era ?,” a reference to the “have mercy” catchphrase Stamos used often on Full House while portraying his Presley-obsessed character, Jesse Katsopolis.
Several fans echoed the catchphrase in the post’s comment section, with some adding extra notes such as, “I love you so much forever have mercy??.”
A few other fans gave Stamos new nicknames, like “Jesse Presley” and “Elvis Stamos,” by blending his name, his character’s and Presley’s.
One Instagram user who reflected on the time they spent watching Stamos’ Full House character had a sudden realization, writing, “I think that's where my love of Elvis came from as a 6 yr old in 1990.”
Others simply expressed love for Stamos’ continuing reverence for the King, with one dubbing Stamos Presley’s “#1 fan ??."
“I love your love for Elvis??,” another person wrote.
