John Travolta Shares Throwback Pic of ‘Day We Adopted’ Dog Peanut ‘on Oscar Night’
Travolta and his 13-year-old son, Benjamin, adopted Peanut after she made an appearance at the 2022 Oscars to honor Betty White
John Travolta is reminiscing about the day his family adopted their dog Peanut!
The actor, 70, posted a photo on Instagram on Saturday, June 22, looking back on the day when he and his son Benjamin, 13, brought home Peanut — which happened to be the same day the little dog made an appearance at the 2022 Academy Awards.
"The day we adopted Peanut on Oscar night!" Travolta wrote in the caption, alongside a photo of himself dressed in a suit and holding Peanut, then just a puppy. "She’s brought the biggest joy to our family."

Back in March 2022, Peanut — then named Mac and Cheese — made an appearance alongside Jamie Lee Curtis as part of her tribute to Betty White, who died in December 2021. During the ceremony, Curtis, 65, brought out the rescue puppy onstage with her to honor White's dedication to animal rights.
"She was a woman who cared so much for not just her two-legged friends but for animals just like this one," the Freaky Friday star said during the ceremony, holding up Peanut to the camera.
"So, the greatest gift you could give Betty White is to open your heart and your home and adopt a rescue dog just like Mac and Cheese from Paw Works," she told the audience.
Soon after the Oscars, Travolta announced in an Instagram post that he and Benjamin had decided to take the pup home and make her a part of their family.
"Ben adopted this dog from last night's Oscar tribute to Betty White. Thank you @curtisleejamie & @pawworks," he wrote on Instagram at the time, alongside a photo of himself and Benjamin holding Peanut.
Since then, the Pulp Fiction actor — who is also dad to daughter Ella Bleu, 24 and late son Jett, who died in January 2009 — and Benjamin have shared their many adventures with Peanut on social media. Earlier this year, Travolta posted a photo of himself and his dog taking a plane ride together, as he sat in the cockpit.
“Peanut searched the plane and found me in the cockpit and seemed very pleased to be there,” he wrote in his caption as he flashed a beaming smile at the camera while his dog sat on his lap.

"This is how Ben's dog Peanut wakes me up," his caption read.
Shortly after the Oscars in 2022, Chad Atkins, co-founder and executive director of Paw Works, spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about the pup and her family.
"They were dumped in a box outside the Avenal Shelter," Atkins told PEOPLE at the time, recalling Peanut's journey from being a stray to being adopted by the Travolta family. "So it's happily ever after for her now."
