Jon Voight says racism was 'solved long ago' in pro-Trump video: 'He is not a racist'
Actor and ardent Donald Trump fan Jon Voight is defending the politician.
In one of the occasional political videos he shares on social media, this one called “Jon Voight’s message for America,” Voight argued that the president isn’t a racist. He also accused Trump’s critics on the left of being filled with hate and anger.
“This is not a race for color or fame. This is a journey that is for truth,” Voight began. “My fellow Americans, too many are angered at the words of racism. This has been a big issue for the black community since the Civil War, but this has been solved long ago by our forefathers for peace and love.”
He continued: “It seems that the angered left and angered minorities want to hold President Trump accountable for past lives. You see we have been gifted with truth and, as I see it, anger is among the old chains that were binding to the people of slavery, old wounds that still seem fresh.”

The Ray Donovan star then brought up the Holocaust.
“Let me talk about old wounds: the Holocaust. That, my friends, are wounds that live among the Jewish and non-Jewish that lost lives,” he said. “But this is not about color, race, religion. This is the United States of America, a nation built on trust and liberty. A soil of greatness. A land of opportunities, where all can grow and succeed with freedom. A nation of greatness.”
Voight added that “angered left-wingers preach love but only pollute.”
“We must understand that this is a nation of liberty, and this president is honoring all. He is not a racist but a man who loves his country and has every intention to make this land great again,” he said. “Let us vote for this country’s safety. And may all the angered left find truth, what truth stands for. God, liberty, love, justice for all. God bless.”
The actor shared his message in the wake of renewed criticism of Trump’s many derogatory references to immigrants and people of color following two mass shootings over the weekend.
Voight’s opinions prompted some disagreement:
“Wow, Jon spot on. I’ll tell my African American neighbor to get over it after another Chevy Tahoe driver calls him a racial slur,” a Twitter user, who clearly disagreed with Voight, wrote. “He’s clearly too much of a sensitive [liberal] & should listen to others telling him how to really feel. SAD.”
Another critic wrote, “So John Voight sends a tweet entitled ‘John Voight’s Message for America’ ... what arrogance.” One person commented: “Please just fade away.”
But Voight’s supporters called him a patriot and thanked him for “speaking the truth.” They applauded his “beautiful” message.
“Thank goodness there is a reasonable voice in Hollywood! I’m glad you stand up for our President,” one commenter wrote.
“Wish Mr Voight was 10 years younger,” someone else wrote of the 80-year-old actor. “Millions would want him to run for political office.”
