Will Joseph Gordon-Levitt Play Batman In 'Justice League'?

Just because Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy ended with "The Dark Knight Rises" doesn't mean that it actually ended. According to HitFix's Drew McWeeny, Warner Bros. is toying with the idea of casting "Dark Knight Rises" star Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Batman in the studio's upcoming "Justice League" and could unveil the casting as soon as next summer, when "Man of Steel" arrives in theaters.
UPDATE, 11/27: According to Hollywood.com, Gordon-Levitt's representatives have shot down the rumor. Alas. The original story continues below.
Spoilers ahead. Should Gordon-Levitt pick up the cowl from "Dark Knight Rises" star Christian Bale, it would create an easy bridge between Nolan's films and the upcoming "Justice League" features; Gordon-Levitt's John Blake -- a.k.a. Robin, though perhaps not that Robin -- was given the keys to the Batcave at the end of "The Dark Knight Rises."

While Nolan has been adamant about not participating in "Justice League" -- the planned 2015 blockbuster would combine the talents of Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman into one film -- he is a producer on Snyder's "Man of Steel," the Warner Bros. Superman reboot due out in 2013. In a recent interview with the New York Post, Snyder said that while he had no clue about how "'Justice League' is going to be handled," his Superman film could be a kickstart for the superhero collaboration. "I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course."

For his part, Gordon-Levitt has not closed the door on a possible stint as Batman following "The Dark Knight Rises." In September, he told MTV that any future "Justice League" participation would be contingent on the script and director. He made similar comments to HitFix in October.
"You never know," he said. "If the script inspires me and if there's a filmmaker that I respect and connect to ... I'd consider anything."
