Juicy J Says He Gets Paid From 90% Of Rap Songs Released Today

Juicy J claims that he receives profits from around ninety percent of rap songs released in today’s musical climate due to the sampling of he and Three-6-Mafia’s music.

During an appearance alongside Wiz Khalifa on the premiere episode of SpringHill Company’s new series Two Ways About It, the Memphis native spoke of the Hypnotize Mindz collective’s influence on rap artists today.

“I feel like the new trends is the old trends because everybody’s sampling Three-6-Mafia, so I’m already in,” said Juicy J. “‘Cause we started the trends,” he added, before revealing that he receives multiple sample clearances daily.

“On some real sh*t, five to six samples a day,” he said of the amount. “I get paid off of pretty much every song, like 90 percent of the songs that’s out right now.” The rapper and producer made it clear that he’s appreciative of his music being sought after by other artists, adding that he approves all sample clearance requests he receives.

“It’s a blessing. I love when people sample,” Juicy J added. “I just approve, approve. Everytime I get that email, I approve.” The 49-year-old believes that the popularity of he and the Hypnotize Minds sound have allowed them to stay true to their roots and not chase musical trends.

“I feel like I don’t really have to adapt to the trends ’cause all the music sounds like and has the flows of old Three-6-Mafia days, which I love. So I just keep doing what I’ve been doing.”
