Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ hilarious reaction to ‘yada, yada, yada’ debate moment: ‘No soup for you’

Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson made headlines with her “yada yada yada” comment during the debate on Tuesday night. Of course, the phrase was made popular by the Seinfeld character Elaine Benes. So it made sense that Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who played Elaine, would weigh in on the subject when she visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night.

Upon seeing the clip, Louis-Dreyfus said: “That is so bizarre.” She then added, “I guess she's going to pick me as her running mate.”

According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, the earliest known use of the word was in 1967. But it was the season 8, episode 19 of Seinfeld titled “The Yada Yada,” that helped make it part of pop culture vernacular.

Louis-Dreyfus said, “It's kind of like worlds colliding and then some.” She also played a politician on the hit show Veep, so she admitted to already feeling some type of bond with all the politicians.

And while Louis-Dreyfus thought the use of “yada, yada, yada” in a debate was bizarre, she admitted it could have been worse, saying “It would be weird if they said ‘No soup for you!’"
