‘Jurassic World’ Sequel Will Reportedly Make Statement on the Treatment of Animals

Jurassic World was a fun return to a world of dinosaurs, righting the ship after the Jurassic Park sequels that led the franchise astray. While Colin Trevorrow’s 2015 film was mostly just an appealing popcorn film, the sequel, to be directed by J.A. Bayona, will reportedly have more of a message. In an interview with El Mundo, a Spanish-language newspaper in Spain, Trevorrow said the second Jurassic World will be a statement on animal abuse.

Trevorrow said, “The dinosaurs will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today: the abuse, medical experimentation, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons.”

The first film already had elements of this idea. As you may recall, one of the bigger arguments took place between Chris Pratt’s and Vincent D’Onofrio’s characters. They didn’t see eye to eye when it came to weaponizing those velociraptors.
