Kamala Harris Makes an Appearance on “RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars”

Vice President Kamala Harris made an appearance on the finale of Rupaul’s Drag Race: All Stars, addressing viewers in a pre-recorded message.
Less than a week after announcing her 2024 presidential bid—shortly after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race—the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee stopped by the beloved reality show to remind viewers about the importance of voting.
“Each day we are seeing our rights and freedoms under attack, including the right of everyone to be who they are, love who they love, openly and with pride,” Harris said in the clip, flanked by celebrity supporters that included SNL alum Leslie Jones, former *NSYNC member Lance Bass, choreographer Jamal Simms, actor Cheyenne Jackson, and Drag Race judge Michelle Visage. (RuPaul was absent from the clip.)
“So as we fight back against these attacks, let’s all remember—no one is alone,” Harris continued. “We are all in this together. And your vote is your power.” She ended her message by encouraging viewers to register to vote, as her celebrity crew praised her with an “amen” and held up signs that promoted voting. Jones accidentally held hers upside down, prompting Harris to let out one of her now meme-ified laughs. The clip ends with everyone shimmying their shoulders to RuPaul’s optimistic anthem “A Little Bit of Love.”
In the six days since announcing her run for president, Harris has proved her memeability is one of her political strengths. Between her “coconut tree” speech and her embrace of Charli XCX’s Brat summer, she’s commanded attention online, especially from young voters. Her Drag Race appearance seems to be on the same wave, driving some much-needed momentum for the Democratic party.
