Karl Urban Confirms Final Season of 'The Boys' Will Release in 2026
Earlier this summer, Eric Kripke confirmed that The Boys would end with season five. Now, Karl Urban who plays Billy Butcher, has taken to Instagram to confirm tha the final season will release two years from now in 2026.
In a heartfelt post shared to his Instagram account, Urban expressed his joy with working with co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, stating, "Working with the illustrious @jeffreydeanmorgan was the best part of my day every day. That's all @theboystv for now folks. See you in...2 years (wish it was sooner) for the final season on @primevideo." The post featured a couple of photos of Urban alongside Morgan behind-the-scenes of the recent season. In the fourth season, Urban starred alongside the main cast of Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. Appearing this season in supporting roles are Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, Jessie T. Usher and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
The show was created by Kripke in 2019 and has been hugely successful for Prime Video. Since the show has deviated from the original 2006 comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the show is unpredictable to fans. Previously, Kripke explained why he decided to end the show at season five, "Part of it is such a wonky stupid screenwriter thing but three and five are the big magical numbers for writing." He added, "Three is movie acts, TV acts are five. Jokes are a runner of three for five. Five just seems like a good round number. It's enough to tell the story but also bring it to a climax without wearing out its welcome. It's been hard because I haven't been able to tell everyone. I was thrilled to finally be able to get the word out there"
The Boys fans will just have to wait until 2026 for the finale.
