Kate Hudson Goes Boho-chic in Saint Laurent, Talks Taylor Swift’s ‘Almost Famous’ Penny Lane Coat for ‘Jimmy Fallon’ Appearance
Kate Hudson brought the boho-chic trend to “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, where the actress talked her debut album “Glorious” and her new Netflix series “Running Point.”
Hudson modeled a look from Saint Laurent’s spring 2025 collection, which consisted of a billowing lavender blouse and paisley maxiskirt. A pair of the label’s patent leather pumps and diamond-encrusted jewelry completed her look.

Hudson currently works with stylist Marc Eram, who also counts models Barbara Palvin and Soo Joo Park as clients.
Speaking to host Jimmy Fallon, Hudson discussed Taylor Swift’s recent nod to her character in “Almost Famous.” In Cameron Crowe’s semi-autobiographical film, the actress plays Penny Lane, a groupie for the fictional band Stillwater.
During Super Bowl weekend, Swift wore a shearling-trimmed coat resembling Penny Lane’s, leading fans to connect the singer’s favorite number with the film.
“This was very exciting,” Hudson said. “[Swift] wore the Penny Lane coat, and then there was this whole Easter egg thing with 13s because ‘Almost Famous’ came out on [Sept. 13, 2000].”
Fallon also noted that the Beatles song “Penny Lane,” which the character was named for, came out on Feb. 13, 1967.
“I feel like I want to do the Easter egg thing,” Hudson continued. “I wish I could put that much effort into little secret things that people could read into, but it would be exhausting.”
Hudson’s role as Penny Lane helped solidify her as a boho style icon. Bohemian dressing dates back centuries, but it’s seen a resurgence in 2024 thanks in part to Chloé and Saint Laurent’s recent collections. The free-spirited aesthetic is characterized by loose silhouettes, exotic prints and eclectic details (think fur vests, intricate embroideries and clamorous jewelry).
Hudson also discussed her latest project, “Running Point,” cocreated by Mindy Kaling. In the new comedy, the actress portrays the president of a pro basketball team.
“Jeanie Buss, who’s the president of the Lakers, went to Mindy years ago and was like, ‘I really think my life is a comedy, and I’d love if you’d be interested in doing it,'” Hudson shared. “Jeanie gave us all this freedom and has such a great sense of humor, so we got to really play in this world of professional basketball and I get to play a version of the first woman to lead a professional basketball team.”
