Katie Holmes’ Ultra-Rare Comments Show How She’s Handling Daughter Suri Being College-Bound
We remember when Katie Holmes gave birth to her daughter Suri Cruise, and now, she’s gearing up for college! Many have wondered how Katie is handling this. Well, in a super-rare interview, she revealed that she’s actually not feeling those empty-nester blues.
For a recent Town & Country cover story, Holmes revealed how she feels about Suri moving off to college.

“I’m proud of my daughter,” she said. “Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy.”
She added, “I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”
This is so sweet to hear, especially when you remember that some sources claimed Holmes was freaking out about Suri leaving NYC. But Pittsburgh isn’t too far, so we’re sure they’ll see each other as often as they can!
If you need a recap, Suri is reportedly headed to Pittsburgh for her collegiate career at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Now, it is super cool when you remember Holmes filmed a movie there. (For the 2000 film Wonder Boys, they had to film quite a few scenes at CMU!)
For those who don’t know, Holmes and Tom Cruise started dating in early 2005, and within a year, they welcomed their daughter Suri Cruise on April 2006 (and married seven months later). Later, Holmes filed for divorce from Tom in 2012, and has continued to raise Suri to be one of the coolest celebrity kiddos.
