Javaughn Young-White, the ex-partner of singer Kehlani, has filed a legal petition seeking both legal and physical custody of their five-year-old daughter, Adeya. He is also requesting child support.

In court documents obtained by Billboard, Young-White claims that Kehlani, whose full name is Kehlani Parrish, is involved in a cult that he believes controls her actions, including how she raises their daughter. Young-White alleges that this cult influences decisions regarding Adeya’s upbringing more than he does.

Young-White’s filing, submitted in Los Angeles, includes accusations that he was “physically restrained and threatened” by cult members when trying to retrieve Adeya. He further alleges that while Kehlani is on tour, Adeya is cared for by cult members, including sleeping and bathing with them.

Additionally, Young-White has requested that Kehlani undergo a psychological evaluation and that his name be added to Adeya’s birth certificate. He also wants Adeya’s name officially changed from Adeya Parrish to Adeya Parrish Young-White. Young-White argues that because Adeya was born at home rather than in a hospital, his name was not included on the birth certificate.

Kehlani has not yet publicly addressed these allegations.
