Kehlani Reacts To Saweetie Dating Ex-Boyfriend YG: “Why Would I Care?”
Kehlani gave the perfect response when asked about who their ex-boyfriend, YG, is dating five years after their own courtship.
During their press run for new album, CRASH, the Bay Area-bred songbird appeared on Nessa On Air, where they discussed Saweetie commenting under a photo of them after she and YG broke up. The “Big Bank” rapper and the “NANi” rhymer have been dating on-and-off since 2023.
The “After Hours” singer replied to the pairing with, “Well, I’m a lesbian. So, why would I care about my male [exes]? I also don’t care what any of my exes are doing. Male, female, anything. My goal is [for] everybody to be happy. Even when I’m with someone, if we decide that we’re not mutually happy, we really shouldn’t be together and we should go be with people who make us happy. That’s what I want […] I’m so unbothered. If I was bothered, you’d never know.”
They also gushed over Saweetie and YG’s relationship, noting, “They make so much sense. Knowing them both, I’m like ‘You know what?’ I really like this.'”
The “Tap In” rapper and the Compton native sparked dating rumors in the Spring of 2023 after being spotted kissing on vacation and snuggling at various events. By January 2024, she and YG confirmed a brief split, but the west coast couple spun the block by March, as the pair were seen canoodling at Rolling Loud California.

The “My N***a” rapper and Kehlani dated for under a year from late 2019 through early 2020. Throughout their brief romance, he was at the forefront of several infidelity scandals that the singer discussed in song. Keh released “You Know Wassup” in November 2019 after he was seen with another woman on Halloween.
“You got demons, I got trauma/ We both got triggers, I hate drama/ I’m embarrassed, I’m in shock/ Here wide open, and that don’t stop,” they sang on the chorus. The couple later reconciled and released their joint track, “Konclusions,” on Valentine’s Day 2020. However, just five days later, their breakup was confirmed and seemingly aired out on Keh’s surprise drop, “Valentine’s Day (Shameful).”
They shared behind-the-scenes footage from the studio session on Instagram, calling it “therapeutic.” The “Next 2 U” singer wrote, “Last night making Valentine’s Day (Shameful) .. same room / same people i made ‘You Know Wassup’ with. same energy… feel something and get it off. 3 therapeutic hours. appreciating those who see and hear me, and those around me holding me up. real grateful for expression right now. inward & onward, love always ALL ways.”
The following year, Kehlani came out as a lesbian.
