Kevin Gates unveils new visual for "Super General 2"
On Tuesday (Jan. 30), Kevin Gates dropped off a new video for “Super General 2,” the sequel to 2022’s “Super General (Freestyle).” As with its predecessor, the Baton Rouge talent’s latest drop sees him on a stream of consciousness about street life, inner turmoil, and much more.

The Bandcamp-directed visual for “Super General 2” bringing viewers to a recording studio in New York. While there, an iced-out Gates pours his heart out while behind the boards and in the front of the microphone.
“Super General 2” arrived mere days after the release of Gates’ fourth studio LP, The Ceremony, which contains 17 songs and a couple of assists from Sexyy Red and B.G. CashMoneyAP, Drumma Boy, Einer Bankz, Starrah, and more contributed to the album’s hard-hitting production.
During a recent run-in with TMZ, Gates co-signed Lil Wayne’s humorous comments about the struggles of certain low-melanin minority. “I’m not just gonna say [light-skinned] rappers. I’m gonna say light people have it rough, you know?” he told the reporter. “They’re the first ones to get picked. Some people, they never get nothin’ gangsta. They just ugly, you know what I’m saying? So we stay away from them. “But, like I said, adversity builds character. So I’ve been battle-tested. I’m certified.”
