Kravis Center in West Palm Beach to hold its first block party
It's time to party.
The Kravis Center will hold its first block party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, though there will be some pre-events starting 30 minutes earlier, officials from the performing arts center said in a recent release..

The Kravis Center Block Party is billed as a "kick off the 2023 -24 season,'' though the season started Sept. 30 with a performance by the Commodores.
There will be performances by members of the Palm Beach Symphony and a Young Singers of the Palm Beaches community sing-a-long; a variety of workshops including ballet (from Miami City Ballet), samba percussion, hip hop/street dancing; an African drum circle; and Indian Fusion Dance, among others, at the free event.
“Inviting the community to join us at the Kravis Center, is a great way to celebrate the excitement and power of the arts,” said Diane Quinn, the center's CEO.

Participants are encouraged to arrive early to register for the free workshops. For more information on the Block Party and the schedule of events, visit www.kravis.org.
The schedule includes:* 10:30 a.m.: Hip-hop celebration; Palm Beach Symphony "petting zoo," where the public can try out instruments; and a performance from the symphony's String Trio.
11 a.m.: Block party's opening of the Steve Caras photography exhibit; a performance of Havanna Hop; and Clement Lightbourne will play Caribbean reggae.
11:30 a.m.: The Yvette Norwood-Tiger Jazz ensemble performance
11:45 a.m.: Gyorgy Lakatos will play Spanish guitar
Noon: Middle Eastern music and dance show
12:10 p.m.: Miamibloco Bateria Saieira Samba percussion performance
12:15 p.m.: Andrés Espinoza Agurto Trio; theater games workshop; African drum circle workshop; ballet for young children workshop with Miami City Ballet; and a musical theater dance workshop.
12:25 p.m.: Young Singers of the Palm Beaches
12:30 p.m.: Miamibloco samba workshop
12:45 p.m.: Joey Calderaio will perform American reggae
1 p.m.: Palm Beach Opera artists will sing, and the public is invited to learn about costume deign and the group's educational programs.
1:15 p.m.: Ballet Palm Beach; Calypso Indian fusion dance workshop; music and a circle dance workshop for kids; "Be You Disco" workshops; and an advanced ballet workshop led by former dancer Steve Caras
1:30 p.m.: Saxophonist John Boes
2 p.m.: Latin fusion music with Elastic Bond
2:15 p.m.: Hip-hop and street dancing workshop; Beat Box workshop
2:30 p.m.: Miamibloco samba kids workshop
