Update: In June 2015, Caitlyn Jenner came out as a transgender woman. This content was written in April 2015 before Jenner publicly announced her full transition.
Like much of the rest of her family, Kardashian momager Kris Jenner has come out in support of ex-husband Bruce Jenner, who on Friday announced to the world he has “the soul of a female,” and will be transitioning from male to female.
Kris, 59, was one member of the family who Bruce, 65, says took news of the transition the hardest – telling Diane Sawyer in Friday’s 20/20 interview that it was one of the things that lead to their divorce – but she’s come around.
Though a source close the family once told PEOPLE that Bruce’s transition was “difficult” for the family, they’ve since had time to process his decision.
In an earlier Tweet Friday night, Kris shot back at Perez Hilton and said she had never been asked for comment on the situation. She also said she was sitting by Bruce’s side as the interview aired.
“@PerezHilton f— you Perez no one asked me to comment ….and I’m sitting with Bruce now watching this show so let’s keep it real…LOL.”
Stepdaughter Kim Kardashian West told reporters earlier this week the family would be watching the interview together with Bruce. And on Friday, she and brother Rob Kardashian joined mom Kris in posting public messages of support.
