Lady Gaga denies Bradley Cooper rumors, calls social media the 'toilet of the internet'
Lady Gaga may be known as a great musician, but when she stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she said it was her great acting that led to romance rumors about her and Bradley Cooper.
During the 2019 Academy Awards, Gaga and Cooper performed the song “Shallow” from the film A Star Is Born. The emotional performance was considered one of the best moments of the night, as well as one of the most controversial.
Social media was abuzz with thousands of people speculating that the co-stars were more than friends. And when Kimmel asked Gaga about the rumors, she rolled her eyes. She said, “Social media, quite frankly, is the toilet of the internet. And what it has done to pop culture is just, like, abysmal.”
While the performance made it appear as though the two actors were in love, Gaga said that was the whole point. “People saw love, and guess what, that’s what we wanted you to see!” she said. “This is a love song, “Shallow,” the movie A Star Is Born, it’s a love story!”
Gaga said she and Cooper rehearsed all week in order to put on such a stirring performance.
So while Gaga is a close friend and huge fan of Cooper, she made it very clear that the romantic performance was just that — a performance. She ended by saying, “I’m an artist, and I guess we did a good job.” Adding, “Fooled ya!”
