Larry David invites Phoenix to see him live — 'if you don't have anything better to do'

This should be pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Larry David, who co-created "Seinfeld" and created and starred in "Curb Your Enthusiasm" — two of the greatest comedies in the history of TV — is bringing his live show to Phoenix.

"A Conversation with Larry David" is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 at Arizona Financial Theatre. David will be accompanied by a moderator to talk about, you guessed it, Larry David.

In the grand tradition of self-loathing and self-effacement that has earned him hundreds of millions of dollars, David announced the tour with a video on X.

"Hello, I’m Larry David — lucky me,” he says in the video shared by Live Nation. “So listen, there are some tickets going on sale for this thing I’m doing. It’s really ... it’s really nothing. It will be a total waste of your time. You know, there’s not that many things to do at night. So, yeah, I guess if you have nothing to do. But you could consider bowling. It’s not a terrible idea — I haven’t done it in about 50 years, but now that I mention it, I think I might hit the lanes soon. Anyway, if you want to go, you go. If you don’t, you don’t. Not a big deal either way.”

Who is Larry David?

If you are even passingly familiar with David's work, you know this sounds just about right.

David was a standup comedian who appeared on the late-night variety show "Fridays" and was a writer for "Saturday Night Live," famously never getting a sketch on the air. He and Jerry Seinfeld created "Seinfeld," one of the most successful shows in TV history; the character of George Costanza, played with cringeworthy perfection by Jason Alexander, was based on David.

What do you do with the rest of your life after the show that made you a fortune goes off the air? Create a show about what you do with the rest of your life after the show that made you a fortune goes off the air. "Curb Your Enthusiasm" was even more biting than "Seinfeld," with David playing a slightly more curmudgeonly version of himself.
