Who is the Rolling Stones opener? What to know about Grammy winner Carin Leon
Carin León will join the Rolling Stones at State Farm Stadium when the legendary rockers bring the Stones Tour ’24 Hackney Diamonds to Glendale, Arizona, on Tuesday, May 7.
León continues his rapid ascent after a monumental year in which he won a Latin Grammy for Best Norte?o Album for “Colmillo de Leche” and released two massive hits, “Primera Cita” and “Según Quién,” both of which charted on Spotify’s Top 25 and hit the Top 30 on Billboard’s Global 200.
His latest single “Alch Si” with Grupo Frontera topped Billboard's Regional Mexican Airplay chart. And he recently completed an extensive sold-out run of U.S. arenas with his Colmillo de Leche Tour.
The 38-date run saw León performing at Los Angeles’ Crypto Arena, Newark’s Prudential Center, Houston’s Toyota Center, Miami’s Kaseya Center and more.
León played the Grand Ole Opry after collab with Kane Brown
León recently collaborated with country superstar Kane Brown for the song “The One (Pero No Como Yo),” which represents a milestone for both artists and a landmark crossover between American country and música Mexicana.
The song was premiered in a live performance at this year’s Premio Lo Nuestro Awards.
On Friday, Feb. 23, Brown came out to support León from the audience as he achieved a career milestone with his debut performance at Nashville’s iconic Grand Ole Opry.
How León rose to fame as a Regional Mexican music superstar
Originally from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, León embarked on his musical journey at 15, learning to play guitar and developing skills in singing and songwriting.
In 2018, León released his debut album “Desvelada con Banda y Mariachi,” which helped him dominate the regional Mexican music scene as a performer, singer and songwriter. In 2021, his album “Inédito” topped the Apple Mexican Music chart and was named one of Billboard’s 25 Best Latin Albums of the year.
León’s awards include an ASCAP Award for the song “Me La Avente,” numerous Premio Lo Nuestro Awards (Regional Mexican Breakthrough Artist, Best Male Artist and Banda Song of the Year) and a 2022 Latin Grammy win for Best Regional Mexican Song for “Como lo Hice Yo,” a collaboration with Mexican pop group Matisse.
