Law & Order Season 24: Meet Maura Tierney’s Character in New Promo

A new cop is officially walking the Law & Order beat.

“I’m your new lieutenant,” Maura Tierney announces in a recently released promo for Law & Order and its spinoff SVU.

More from TVLine

In July, TVLine exclusively reported that Tierney (ER, The Affair) was joining the procedural as a series regular. Aside from her on-screen rank, the character details were being kept under wraps.

Today.com now reports that Tierney will play Lt. Jessica Brady in the upcoming Season 24, which gets underway on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 8/7c. And she seems like a straight shooter, if the brief glimpse we get in the promo above is any indication.

“I don’t need you to like me,” she says, seemingly to Reid Scott’s Det. Vincent Reilly, “I need you to listen to me.”

Camryn Manheim, who played Lt. Kate Dixon, left at the end of Law & Order‘s Season 23, which wrapped on May 16.

Elsewhere in the spot, SVU‘s Capt. Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay) and Assistant District Attorney Carisi (Peter Scanavino) toast with their coffee cups. “Here’s to bad guys getting what they deserve,” he says.

SVU‘s Season 26 premiere will follow Law & Order‘s, at 9 pm on Oct. 3. Missing from the Law & Order lineup that night will be Organized Crime, which was moved to Peacock when the series was renewed for Season 5.
