Lifetime officially sets Surviving Jeffrey Epstein docuseries
The Jeffrey Epstein scandal is officially set to be explored on the small screen as part of an upcoming documentary series.
The network announced Surviving Jeffrey Epstein has been given the green light during the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Saturday. Initially announced last year, the four-part event is set to air this summer. Directed by Anne Sundberg and Ricki Stern (The Preppy Murder, Reversing Roe), the production is from Emmy-winner Robert Friedman’s Bungalow Media + Entertainment.
The billionaire financier was arrested in July 2019, following accusations of sexual assault and trafficking of underage girls. A month later, he was found dead in his New York prison cell following an apparent suicide (though this has been largely debated).
The venture isn’t the only TV project to tackle the subject. An adaptation of journalist Julie K. Brown’s book on Epstein from Adam McKay is in the works at HBO. Brown’s multi-part Miami Herald investigation “Perversion of Justice,” is credited with bringing the case to the surface.
Lifetime previously unveiled the cultural phenomenon Surviving R. Kelly and Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning which exposed abuse allegations against the singer.
