Lily’s comments come after she addressed the devastating backlash she received for revealing that she and her husband, David Harbour, returned a puppy they bought during COVID-19 lockdown because it was “naughty.”

Lily came under fierce scrutiny almost immediately after the episode was released, with many criticizing her decision to return the pet. The backlash was so severe that Lily ended up issuing a lengthy statement on X, where she revealed that she’d been receiving “some really abhorrent messages, including death threats.”

She then explained that the dog had “severe separation anxiety” and that they tried hard to meet her needs by working with behavioral specialists, professional trainers, and volunteers from the shelter they rescued her from before it was agreed that their home was not a good fit for Mary.

Lily also said that Mary was rehomed within 24 hours of her being returned, and that the dog’s “happiness and welfare were central to us making that decision, as difficult as it was.”

“I've had rescue dogs pretty consistently throughout my life since I was 4 years old, I'm pretty good at ascertaining a dog's needs, I have never been accused of mistreating an animal, and I've found this whole week very distressing,” she added at the time.

After issuing this statement, Lily missed two episodes of Miss Me?, with Miquita saying that this was due to her not having Wi-Fi access. Lily said that she “did not enjoy” the fallout of the puppy scandal when she returned to the podcast on Thursday.
