Irby will play DEA Agent James De Marco, A decorated DEA agent whom Mickey suspects may have a sinister link to one of his cases. Klompus will play Annabeth Stephens, a neighbor of the late Giselle Dallinger, she is interviewed by Cisco, but her testimony ends up being more useful to the prosecution. Parks will play David Lyons, the longtime partner of Mickey’s client Julian La Cosse, who has been accused of the murder.
Season 3, currently in production, consists of 10 episodes and is based on the fifth book in The Lincoln Lawyer series by Michael Connelly, The Gods of Guilt. As Deadline revealed exclusively in a preview for the new season, co-showrunners and executive producers Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez shared the unique way they’re adapting the book their way.
“While Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer is based on Michael Connelly’s novel The Gods of Guilt, we decided that a fun (and poignant) way to come into the season would be via a flashback sequence that gave us some insight into how Mickey Haller became Mickey Haller — not just the brilliant criminal defense lawyer but the husband, the father, and the man that he would come to be,” they said.
“There is no comparable flashback in the book, so we devised something that would also serve as a fitting introduction to the story of the season, both on a plot level but also emotionally. These images, of a young Mickey finishing up surfing before a life-changing day at work, as well as cuddling on the couch with his wife Maggie after putting their young daughter Hayley to bed, are from a pair of these flashback scenes that bookend the first episode and propel us into the rest of Season 3,” they added.
In addition to Humphrey and Rodriguez, executive producers also include David E. Kelley, Michael Connelly, Ross Fineman, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson. Kelley created the series for TV and was developed by Humphrey. A+E Studios is the studio.
Irby is coming off two hit shows that ended their runs in 2023, FX’s Mayans M.C. and HBO’s Barry. In the Kurt Sutter and Elgin James-co-created motorcycle drama Mayans. M.C., Irby played the series regular role of Obispo ‘Bishop’ Losa across the show’s 5 seasons. In Barry, he played polite Bolivian mobster Cristobal Sifuentes across the crime drama’s four seasons. He is repped by IAG and Brillstein.
Klompus is best known for her role as Rachel Boyle on Freeform’s Good Trouble. Additional credits include roles in ABC’s Abbott Elementary, Prime Video’s Hunters, Bravo’s Dirty John and Life in Pieces for CBS. Klompus is a member of Opendoor Shakespeare, a traveling femme/non-binary theatre troupe in Los Angeles. She is repped by Entertainment Lab and DDO Artists Agency.
Parks is best known for his starring role in the CW’s Superman AND Lois. He has recurred on CW’s All American and Vampire Diaries, Paramount’s Yellowstone and ABC’s Devious Maids. His other work includes The Crossing, 9-1-1, Superstore and the film Premium Rush opposite Joseph Gordon Levitt and Michael Shannon. He is repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment.
Tenney appeared in one episode of The Lincoln Lawyer, episode six titled “Bent” as Mickey’s father. Before that, he had a recurring role in Max’s Sex and the City reboot And Just LIke That…, where he played Peter, the first man Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) dates following the death of her husband. Additional credits include HBO’s True Detective, Prime Video’s The Romanoffs and ABC’s Scandal on the Small Screen and film, Love the Coopers, As Cool As I Am and Rabbit Hole, to name a few. He is repped by Gersh Agency and Link Entertainment.
