Look back at John Mulaney, Olivia Munn's relationship, including her thoughts on parenting
It's been a whirlwind romance for comedian John Mulaney and actress Olivia Munn.
Following months of rumors, Mulaney confirmed in September he and Munn were together – and that they're going to be parents.
Since then, speculation about their status as a couple continues to make headlines. But this is nothing new for Munn, she told the Los Angeles Times in November.
"It’s definitely not foreign for me to have people speculate incorrectly about things and to have rumors run rampant in one way," she told the outlet.
"They think they know our relationship so well. When in reality, they don’t. There’s no way anyone could know what any of his relationships were or what our relationship is," she added.
Still, the barrage of media attention means Munn has kept her pregnancy private, not sharing the coveted baby bumps pics on social media.
"There’s this vulnerability that I feel that makes me want to ... just turn everything off," she told the Times. "I’d rather close the door to that and just take care of myself and my baby."
Mulaney has also kept pretty quiet, but opened up about becoming a dad in a September interview.
"Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself and this early journey out of recovery," Mulaney said. The comedian, who has been open about past struggles with alcoholism and drug addiction, returned to rehab late last year.
Take a look back at their whirlwind relationship:
John Mulaney announces he's having a baby with Olivia Munn
Mulaney first publicly told "Late Night" host Seth Myers about his relationship status.
"In the spring, I went to Los Angeles, and met and started to date a wonderful woman named Olivia – Olivia Munn," Mulaney, 39, said in the September interview. "And we're having a baby together. … I'm going to be a dad. We're both really, really happy."
This will be the first child for Mulaney and "The Newsroom" actress, 41. During a November appearance on SiriusXM’s "The Jess Cagle Show," Munn said the public interest surrounding her pregnancy, including people leaking the news she was pregnant, has complicated her pregnancy from an emotional standpoint.
"I understand the interest," Munn told co-host Julia Cunningham. "But when it's happening to you, and you feel like you have no control over when you announce, or what if something bad happens? What if I lose the baby, then it's already been out there that I have it before I was ready to tell that information: Now I have to live with this."

Munn said this compounded the stress of other factors that have been weighing on her.
"Since I've been pregnant, I've had four different girlfriends lose their pregnancies all after the safe zone: three months, two at four months and one at five (or) six months," Munn said. "And I also have an autoimmune disorder, and I'm 41. And so there are a lot of elements that come into play when you're pregnant, and there's a lot of fear and you want to do everything you can to protect your baby. "
Despite the scrutiny, Munn is upbeat in chatting about impending motherhood. Although she's been advised to stick to the basics — "a rocking chair, place for baby to sleep, a changing table" — Munn told USA TODAY she can't help but fixate on how many onesies, diapers and bottles she'll need. She's also sought out the advice of moms on social media for décor inspiration.
"I look into an empty room, and I'm like, 'I don't know, I think my baby's probably going to sleep on the dining room chair or something,' " she joked.
Mulaney reveals how he met Munn
Mulaney revealed to Myers he stayed in rehab for two months. He got out in February and stayed in a sober living facility for a month and a half before heading to Los Angeles, where he reconnected with Munn – the two first met at Meyers' wedding to Alexi Ashe in 2013 ("so it's nice that something good came out of the wedding," Mulaney joked).
"She got to date me right out of recovery, which is what they call a reverse catch," Mulaney said of Munn.
Mulaney splits with ex-wife Anna-Marie Tendler
Before Mulaney opened his chapter with Munn he closed the chapter with his ex-wife Anna-Marie Tendler.
Reports emerged in May that Mulaney and Tendler were divorcing after six years of marriage, according to People and Page Six. The split came after the comedian checked in for a 60-day rehab stay in December.
He left rehab the next month and moved out of the home he shared with his "ex-wife" shortly before hosting the Halloween episode of "Saturday Night Live," Mulaney recapped in the Myers interview.
"I did relapse back onto drugs after that," he told Meyers. "Then I continued using drugs, you and some other friends staged an intervention, as you recall."

Meyers' recollection of the intervention was "awful," he said. "You do those things because you're really worried about your friend."
Mulaney has joked in stand-up routines about his past issues with alcohol. He returned to the stand-up stage in September with "John Mulaney: From Scratch."

Munn previously in a relationship with Aaron Rodgers
Munn also had been in a famous relationship. The actress previously dated Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers before the two split in 2017.
In an interview with ESPN Magazine, Rodgers admitted that dating in the public eye put pressure on his relationship with Munn.
"When you are living out a relationship in the public eye, it's definitely ... it's difficult," he said in the August 2017 interview. "It has some extra constraints because you have other opinions about your relationship, how it affects your work and, you know, just some inappropriate connections."
Rodgers is now currently engaged to actress Shailene Woodley.
