A look back at the late Rich Homie Quan's performance at Louisville's Gazebo Festival

Rich Homie Quan, a powerful presence in Atlanta's music scene who performed this spring at the Louisville Gazebo Festival hosted by "Lovin On Me" rapper Jack Harlow, has died.

Quan was found unresponsive Thursday in his home in Georgia.

The 33-year-old, whose real name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died Sept. 5 at Grady Memorial Hospital, according to the senior medical examiner investigator with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office. A cause and manner of death was not released. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.

Known for his melodic approach to rap in hits like 2013’s “Type of Way” and 2014’s “Lifestyle,” Quan was scheduled to perform at Nick Cannon’s "Wild ‘N Out Live: The Final Lap" tour in Atlanta later this month alongside Waka Flocka, Nardo Wick, and Boosie.

Gazebo Fest may have been the last opportunity to see Quan on stage. The rapper performed on the first day of the two-day festival in May. Bad weather caused the second day of Harlow's festival to be canceled.

Before the festival, the Courier Journal spoke with Harlow about how he selected his musical lineup, including SZA, Vince Staples, Majid Jordan, Quan, and others.

"The lineup for Gazebo Festival feels like a chance to express my personal taste, and there are so many full circle aspects to it," Harlow said previously. "I opened for Vince Staples in 2016 at Headliners in Louisville on my 18th birthday. SZA was my dream headliner pick. She hasn’t performed in Kentucky since she played Mercury Ballroom in 2017. I went to that show. I think there were maybe 900 people. I’m really grateful to have all these artists in town."

At Gazebo Fest, Harlow spent time with Quan before his set and watched the "Flex" rapper from backstage.

Quan was previously nominated for various BET Hip Hop awards, including Best New Artist and Best Club Banger, in 2014 and 2015. He was also nominated for iHeartRadio Music Awards' Hip Hop Song of the Year in 2016.

TMZ reported they were told by Quan's family that he died Thursday. On Thursday evening, they released the 911 call reportedly made by his girlfriend. During the phone call, Amber Williams said that she found his lifeless body on a couch after she dropped off their son at school.
