‘Love Is Blind’ Star Ben Addresses TikTok Drama With Sara: ‘She’s Already Making Up Stuff’
It didn’t take long for Love Is Blind stars Ben Mezzenga and Sara Carton to hit a rough patch in their relationship after returning home. The former college baseball player was forced to address a TikTok video circulating online that painted him in a poor light.
Before Love Is Blind season 8 premiered, a video on TikTok went viral and featured a woman who goes by Andra in tears. She spoke about how when she discovered the season was going to be set in Minneapolis, she was confident she would recognize some of the participants. While she never mentioned Ben, 28, by name, she did say that the man played baseball for the University of Minnesota, and he’s the only member of the cast to have done that.
While sitting at their apartment during episode 9, Sara, 29, came across the presumed video in question, but when she asked Ben about the woman in the video, he beat her to the punch.
“Is she crying in it?” Ben asked, before he and the oncology nurse watched the video together.
"I think she's referencing me. I had seen it. Literally when we were at the brewery,” Ben explained. “I saw this come out, and I'm like, 'Screw this.' I don't want to give her any ability to do anything with me if she decides to release my name or anything. I don't want to give her control over that, so I blocked her. And because she had blocked me from seeing her TikTok feed."
When Sara inquired as to why the woman would block Ben, he replied, "Probably because she doesn't want me to see this? I don't know. I haven't talked to her in over four years."
However, Sara wasn’t so easily convinced that nothing shady had gone down and wondered why the woman would “react this way if it was over four years” and asked if he believed she was going to “make stuff up.”
"That's why I blocked her because I'm so uncertain as to what else she's going to try and say,” Ben answered. "She's already making up stuff. She was, like … how I manipulated her and did all these different things. I hate talking bad about people, but it's like ... She's overreacting."
When Sara asked for more details about their relationship, he said that he thought they met on Tinder but claimed that they “never hooked up.”
Ben continued, "I wish I could give you a more, like, 'Yeah, it was this dramatic breakup. I didn't treat her well because of this reason or this reason.' Or 'I don't feel proud of this or that,' but like, I just honestly don't remember. All I remember was it was four years ago, and it was a short amount of time that we were talking. I just honestly can't remember what happened."
Sara wasn’t happy that Ben said he “didn’t remember” their relationship and pointed out that she remembered her relationships from four years ago, but he insisted that it was only because he had been on “maybe one date” with Andra. He added that they “met up at bars” for a few weekends, but said that they didn’t speak after that.
Ben clarified again that he and the woman did “kiss,” but their interactions never went any further than that. While Sara said that she believed Ben, she wasn’t going to “dismiss” the woman’s claims before adding that if “more came out” regarding the situation, she wasn’t going to be able to trust him.
