Luke Bryan Reveals His Future on American Idol Is Uncertain

Who is headed to Hollywood?

Well, that seems to be the big question for the upcoming 23rd season of American Idol.

Amid ABC's search to fill Katy Perry's vacant seat on the singing competition, Luke Bryan admitted he and Lionel Ritchie are still waiting to learn their fate from the Disney-owned network.

“It’s been interesting,” the country star told Billboard in an interview published July 1. “It’s been something Disney been really tightlipped about with me and Lionel and Ryan [Seacrest]. We currently haven’t heard what the story is on who’s coming back, and if Lionel and I are coming back. I think Disney is just trying to figure out what they want to do and we’re just kind of sitting back and waiting until they decide.”

If given the golden ticket to return, Luke will find himself in excellent company on the judges panel.

"I think Pink has been in the talks, Miley Cyrus has been in the talks,” he revealed. “Meghan Trainor has been in the talks."

And while Pink has is hesitant to join—“I don’t like hurting people’s feelings,” she previously told Entertainment Tonight—Meghan is ready to sign on the dotted line.

"I've done every interview in the world and said that that is my dream job," she said on Watch What Happens Live last month. "I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world who don't really have the full say, but I have begged for this job."

"It's my favorite show, I've watched it since I was a child," the "Made You Look" singer added. "So that's my dream job."

For his part, Luke is all about that bass idea.

"The whole thing about that role is you gotta have personality and you gotta have fun with it every day," he previously told E! News. "And I think Meghan has fun with her career, she's kind of like me. She doesn't take herself too serious, she has fun with her music. So, yeah, that'd be great."
