Luke Grimes is a man of many talents. Outside of acting, the Yellowstone sweetheart has been focusing his energy on his music career. In 2023, he released his EP, Pain Pills or Pews, and in 2024 came his self-titled album. Ahead of the release of his EP, Grimes’ imposter syndrome regarding his entrance into the music industry was actually alleviated thanks to none other than country superstar Lainey Wilson, who appeared on the hit series Yellowstone as a musician named Abby.

It was inspiring to watch Lainey step into those [acting] shoes,” he told Billboard in 2023. “As much as I was afraid that people would naturally be like, ‘What is this guy doing here?’,” he said of entering the music world, “I realized that no one on our set was like, ‘What is she doing here?’ Everyone was like, ‘She’s awesome and we’re glad she wants to do this.’ That took some of the fear away for me.’”

On “Ain’t Dead Yet,” Luke Grimes sings to his lover, explaining how he’ll love her to the day he dies, and luckily, he “ain’t dead yet.”

6. “Playing On the Tracks” (2023)

On this more deeply country track, Grimes tries to capture the “outlaw spirit of a sort of rambler,” he said in a press release.

“I throw a lot of irons in the fire/Keep my heart from gettin' cold/Ain't none of us ever gettin' any younger/All we ever gonna do is get old/No, I never grow up/I'll never slow down/If you can't hear the train whistle/Listen up 'cause it's leavin' town.”

Grimes sings of the trials and tribulations of a relationship, but in spite of that, he expresses that he’ll still stick around to work it out once things settle.

Grimes’ raspy vocals are on full display in this song about his home state. “One of my favorite Ryan Adams songs was [2000’s] ‘[Oh My] Sweet Carolina,’ where he’s singing about his lifestyle, traveling all over the place and just dreaming of being home,” Grimes told Billboard

“I wanted to take a swing at a song like that, but with a twist, where it’s not all completely positive messages, but you still love the place. For a long time, I would go home to Ohio and it would feel like home still — but about 10 years after leaving, I went back and realized, ‘Oh, this is not home anymore.’ It was a really crazy feeling.”

2. “God and a Girl” (2024)

The country singer and actor brings to life this touching love song about the girl who loves him exactly the way he is, flaws and all.
