'Mad TV,' 'Scary Movie' Star Erica Ash Dead at 46
Actress and comedian Erica Ash, who was introduced into homes in the 2000s on hit shows like Mad TV, has died after a battle with cancer. She was 46.
Her mother Diann Ash confirmed the news in a statement to TMZ. "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend Erica Chantal Ash," she said. "After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loved ones."
"Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life," the statement continued. "Her memory will live eternally in our hearts."
Ash first got her start on Rosie O'Donnell's series The Big Gay Sketch Show in the mid-2000s and went on to star in the smash sketch series Mad TV. In 2013, she entered the Scary Movie universe with a role in Scary Movie 5. Not long after that, she had a recurring role on the show Real Husbands of Hollywood and later starred in the series Survivor's Remorse. She's even appeared on hit reality shows like Top Chef and RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars.
"In honor of Erica’ memory, the family asks that any donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or the breast cancer foundation of your choice," the statement concluded. "We are grateful for the kind expressions of love and support during this difficult time."
