Madonna sued by fan for starting her show too late, reports say
"A queen is never late." So says Madonna, the queen of pop, but some of her fans feel differently.
Madonna is reportedly being hit with a class action lawsuit for pushing the start time of her upcoming Miami show back several hours. The show, originally set for Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 8:30 p.m., has been shifted back to 10:30 p.m., the lawsuit obtained by NBC News and Buzzfeed states.
Nate Hollander filed the suit in Miami-Dade court last week stating he bought three tickets for the Madame X Tour show, which totaled $1,024.95. Hollander states in the suit he tried without success to obtain a refund from Live Nation when the start time changed.
Madonna and Live Nation did not immediately return USA TODAY's requests for comment.
"Ticketholders had to work and go to school the next day, which prevented them from attending a concert that would end at around 1:00 a.m.," the suit claims. "Due to the change in the start times ... all tickets purchased by Hollander and all class members suffered an extreme loss in value, making it impossible for Hollander and all class members to recover the amount paid for said tickets by reselling them."
Hollander sued for breach of contract stating Madonna has a history of tardiness and the concert team should have known the show would not go on at the scheduled start time.
According to Las Vegas' Fox5, KVVU, Madonna's 10:30 p.m. show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Thursday did not begin until 12:30 a.m., leading the audience to boo upon her arrival.
Seemingly in response to the backlash, the 61-year-old superstar took to Twitter over the weekend to share her reply to the crowd's frustration, telling them, "Here's something that you all need to understand. And that is, that a queen is never late."
Madonna posted the video on Saturday with the caption "F.A.C.T.S."
