Mama's Boy opens its third location in the Athens area. Here are the details
Customers lined up at 8 a.m. for opening day of Mama's Boy restaurant in Watkinsville, bringing a taste of the ever-popular Athens breakfast spot to the Wire Park mixed-use development. Unlike the original Athens location, the new eatery is one of many outposts in The Grid, a food hall surrounded by retail shops in the still-under-construction Watkinsville project.
Located at 1725 Electric Avenue, Wire Park is already host to restaurants like Lalo's Tacos & Cantina and Scoops Ice Cream, and South Main Brewery. Gekko Kitchen and The Original Hot Dog Factory are coming soon to The Grid, where other 550 square-foot suites wait to be occupied by food establishments.
The Watkinsville Mama's Boy marks the restaurant's third location, after the original 197 Oak St. spot opened in 2006 and a second opened in Oconee County at 8851 Macon Hwy. in 2017. Wire Park, a sprawling complex that spans more than 60 acres, includes a revitalized industrial site, curated shops and restaurants, a public park, creative workspaces and a residential area.
The Wire Park Mama's Boy is open this week Wednesday-Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and starting Monday, Sept. 25 will be open 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. daily.
