The Mandalorian & Grogu will go into production sometime in 2024. Jon Favreau, showrunner of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, will direct. He’ll also produce alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni.
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau said via statement. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

Kennedy added via statement: “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.”
Pedro Pascal stars as the titular bounty hunter (aka Din Djarin) in Disney+’s The Mandalorian, which streamed its Season 3 finale in April 2023. The episode ended with Djarin informing the Armorer that that he would formally adopt Grogu — colloquially known as “Baby Yoda” — so that the Child could be his official Mandalorian apprentice.
