Margaret Qualley Goes Backless in Velvet Chanel Dress, Dances in Plunging Red Gown for James Bond Tribute at 2025 Oscars

Margaret Qualley went with a classic look at the Oscars 2025 on Sunday in Los Angeles. The “Substance” star arrived at the red carpet in a backless gown, before changing into a second dress to dance in a tribute to James Bond.

Qualley walked the red carpet in a velvet short-sleeve gown by Chanel. She highlighted the backless detail with a Chanel high jewelry 18k white gold and diamond tassel lariat necklace that was hung stretched down her spine. Qualley completed her red carpet look with a bouffant updo and a pair of high jewelry diamond-encrusted earrings, also by Chanel.

Qualley’s second look consisted of a red plunging halter gown with a draped bodice cinched by a gem-topped gold brooch. The actress, model and dancer wore it during a tribute to James Bond at the 97th installment of the Oscars. For the segment, Qualley completed a choreographed dance that served as an opener for performances of James Bond original songs by Doja Cat, Lisa and Raye.

Qualley has favored Chanel throughout her “Substance” press tour, wearing looks by the French fashion house to “The Substance” Los Angeles premiere, Newport Beach Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival 2024, to name a few. Qualley also wore Chanel last month while promoting her latest film, “Blue Moon,” at the Berlinale International Film Festival on Tuesday in Berlin.

Qualley, who serves as a brand ambassador for Chanel, has also starred in a short film for the brand called “The Button,” and has walked the runway for Chanel, including during the spring couture collection showcase last January.

This year’s Oscars red carpet also brought out Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Zoe Salda?a, Doja Cat, Mikey Madison, Miley Cyrus, and many more. The 97th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, takes place on Sunday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Conan O’Brien is hosting the ceremony, honoring the best in cinema from the past year. Notable presenters include Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, Oprah Winfrey, Cillian Murphy, Emma Stone and more.
