Mark Burnett Says He Can't Release Any Apprentice Footage of Trump
If Donald Trump does end up getting fired in this presidential race, Mark Burnett won’t be the one responsible.
The prolific TV producer, who created The Apprentice with Trump as host, responded Monday to requests that he release unaired footage from the NBC reality show that might paint the Republican presidential nominee in a bad light. Burnett’s response: He’s not legally able to do so.
His statement, in full:
MGM owns Mark Burnett’s production company and The Apprentice is one of its properties. Despite reports to the contrary, Mark Burnett does not have the ability nor the right to release footage or other material from The Apprentice. Various contractual and legal requirements also restrict MGM’s ability to release such material. The recent claims that Mark Burnett has threatened anyone with litigation if they were to leak such material are completely and unequivocally false. To be clear, as previously reported in the press, which Mark Burnett has confirmed, he has consistently supported Democratic campaigns.
This all stems from Friday’s bombshell release of a 2005 video, with Trump and Billy Bush making incredibly offensive remarks about women. Trump and Bush have since apologized for the language they used in the video, but rumors persist that even more incriminating footage of Trump lies in Burnett’s Apprentice archives.

Incidentally, Burnett is reviving The Apprentice in January on NBC — with Arnold Schwarzenegger stepping in for Trump as host.
