Martha Stewart kicked back in metallic gold wedged slingbacks while attending the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Launch Party on Thursday in New York City.
The businesswoman gravitates towards the coziest of styles. She slipped on a pair of suede flats in a bright ivory colorway for the 150th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky earlier this month. Keeping with her love for comfort, she partnered with Skechers on a new collection in honor of International Women’s Day. For the spring 2024 collection, the innovative collaboration reimagined five of the brand’s iconic summer styles. The shoes feature saturated earth-toned uppers made from crochet-knit or canvas, giving them a fresh and updated look.
Sports Illustrated celebrated the launch of the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue at the Hard Rock Hotel. Last year, the 82-year-old was announced as the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit rookie. The highly anticipated 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is set to make a grand debut, marking the publication’s 60th anniversary. This year’s edition came out Friday and brings together a remarkable lineup of models including Gayle King, Kate Upton, Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen, Brittany Mahomes and Olivia Dunne.
About the Shoes
In an effortless stride, Stewart graced the red carpet in a pair of metallic slingback sandals. The shoes, a testament to both style and comfort, featured a chic peep toe that revealed a hint of polish. The wedged heel provided a subtle elevation, elongating her silhouette. With each step, the metallic sheen of the sandals shimmered, catching the light and adding a touch of glamour to her ensemble. The slingback design offered a comfortable fit, allowing Stewart to move effortlessly throughout the evening.
About the Wedge Shoe Style
Wedges have a long history, dating back to ancient Egypt, Greece, and the Etruscans. In the 20th century, wedges became popular as beachwear and summery footwear. By the mid-late 1930s, they had become a bona fide fashion staple.
In the late 1930s, Salvatore Ferragamo introduced wedge heels to the Italian market, sparking a trend that gained popularity in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. During this time, wedge heels evolved, becoming increasingly vibrant and eye-catching.
